  • This is the day to remember as "The day Wilson Lou sat through 11 sessions of symposium presentations with complete concentration and absolutely no falling asleep. He even dropped 8 pages of notes".

Noop, he did not cheat, he only drank 2 cups of coffee and slept 11 hours the previous night.

  • Figured I shld write something or else I will become an illiterate

Watched Mama Mia! fews days ago. It was really superb! Even though I am not of the age that grow up knowing what ABBA is I still like the musical a lot. Its not what the songs sing about that impresses me, but its the mentality that the songs coupled with the plot conveys. Reminds me of the carefree atmosphere during my exchange life, where its mostly relaxing and crazy things like sleeping in strangers' houses and clubbing way after midnight can happen. Now looking back the exchange year is like a dream. Compared with the rigid life nowadays it almost seems too absurd to be true.

  • I wonder if anyone already gave a name to the theory that "Stuff you don't need tends to show up in front of you and annoy the shit outta you; but when you need it one day, perhaps urgently, it will hide itself and annoy even more shit outta you"

This time after much hassle I was able to locate the "stuff" I need, a bag of pills, albeit in the bathroom right beside the toilet, absorbing the essence of human excretion day and night. But I guess I should just be thankful that I found it.

    small thoughts:

    1) gossips are one of the motivation to work in a workplace. and you gossip more about your workplace when you are no longer working there

    2) when you see a shadow of your former self being laughed at, deny your former existance and join in the fun

    3) just give us a quiet bench and that's enough

    4) who'd have thought a stomach is actually a tool of diplomacy?? (ok its not new at all, but I find it fun to put it this way)

    5) something bad has hit me. For once I am beginning to refuse going out for lunch

Sunrise at the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, after 8 hours of walking (and trembling) in pitch black darkness and subzero temperatures and very thin air. This is the main reason we go thr so much trouble to go to Africa (actually I only looked at it for 5 seconds before beginning our decent, coz I was dying of the cold)

Finished reading Lost Continent. I should hv finished it ages ago, shame shame~ Bill Bryson is such a pro at the art of sarcasm and I definately love him for it. The ability to stay completely sober and sarcastic in the face of almost everything , be it the amazingly pleasant view of the Grand Canyon or a utter disaster at a crappy diner. And just when you think this attitude is clouding the book with a miserable and grumpy mood, its not the case because he always manages to turn his bitter comments into something funny (at least for people who appreciate sarcasm)

family argument is really not my field..... sorry I couldn't do anything but hear it from you. I can only hope it will not trouble you for long... ah I hate to be powerless

Finished reading Timeline. I read the first 2/3 of it in 1 and a half days, and the other 1/3 in two weeks... committment really makes a diff here~ I do the enjoy the first half of it, but somehow like my experienece with most fictions I find the later half rather monotonous (although its supposed to be the thrilling part). Guess I like it way more when I have to ponder myself where the story is going.

    -----------

Sometimes you have to admire life. For a person who don't (or no longer) desire a thing, was more or less accidentally bestowed of it again, and then rediscover it is so treasurable.
